About the Presidential Scholars Award
The Presidential Scholars Award for Valedictorians and Salutatorians is a merit-based scholarship accompanied by a one-time award for scholars to engaged in enrichment activities (see below for more details). If you are a high school guidance counselor, parent or student with questions about the scholarship and the nomination process, please visit Undergraduate Admissions.
The Presidential Scholars Enrichment Award fund of $2,500 can be used by a scholar to fund research, eligible study abroad costs, internship, public service and other enrichment activities during the scholar’s undergraduate career at UConn. If are a Presidential Scholar, please review this site carefully. It provides detailed information about eligible activities and the application process.
If you will be applying for an enrichment award, allow 3 to 4 weeks for processing. In other words, please apply at least a month before the activity begins!

Qualifications
- Be a resident of the State of Connecticut
- Be an undergraduate student for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, enrolled at least half-time
- Be enrolled and attending an eligible Connecticut state or non-profit, degree granting institution of higher education in the 2024-2025 academic year
- Be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant per the student’s most recent FAFSA submission in 2024-2025
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Not be in default on any CHESLA loans
- Required to enter the email address of one academic, professional, or extracurricular reference to supply a letter of recommendation.

Join the VAW Global Public Health Fellowship. We are looking for Team Leaders and Chapter Presidents at your university or within your community! The Team Leader (TL) will have a number of responsibilities throughout the year, including recruiting a team of interns, developing a board of students, establishing VAW Global as an official club or class, attending online training and meetings, and preparing their team for an Internship Trip abroad – during Summer, Spring or Winter Break- through team workshops and fundraising.
